FUNDED KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
As a long day care centre, we offer a full day of education and care to children from birth to school age, and we offer a funded kindergarten program as part of the service. We are proud to display the Kinder tick at Watch Me Grow Early Learning Centre Wantirna.
The teacher-led kindergarten program delivered in a long day care setting provides flexibility for parents and carers by offering childcare before and after the kindergarten program.
When you see the Kinder Tick, you can be confident:
-
the program will be led by a qualified teacher
-
children will benefit from play-based learning
-
the kindergarten program is funded and approved by the Victorian Government
-
the program complies with government guidelines and the National Quality Framework.
If your child attends a kindergarten program, they’ll be learning through play with an early childhood teacher. Research shows that play-based learning is the best way to help young children learn, develop well and prepare to thrive at school.

The benefits of keeping your child/ren enrolled at Watch Me Grow Early Learning Centre for their Kinder year:

-
children stay in the environment they are comfortable, with the friendships and connections they have already built with the peers and educators
-
transition statements written by a qualified teacher who has seen the child develop over their years at the service
-
the kinder program runs 51 weeks a year, we do not shut over school holidays
-
flexible attendance hours, open 7:00am - 6:00pm
-
incursions/excursions, including bush kinder
-
indoor/outdoor program everyday
-
meals provided with progressive meal times
-
childcare subsidy applied

Your child/ren will be required to attend the Kindergarten program for a minimum of 15 hours per week
(two booked days).
THREE-YEAR-OLD KINDER
In 2022, two years of funded kindergarten programs will be available across Victoria. This means families can access government-subsidised play-based learning programs from when their child turns three years old. Victoria is the only state or territory in the nation to introduce this state-wide reform.
Four-Year-Old Kindergarten, delivered in the year before a child goes to school, is 15 hours a week of play-based learning that is available to families.

Funded Three-Year-Old Kindergarten is 5 hours a week of play-based learning and will be available for the first time state-wide from next year. We will be implementing three-year-old kindergarten in our mixed aged rooms at both services.
